Incendium Novum is an early music ensemble born out of an interest in historically-informed performance delivered with genuine passion and simplicity. Incendium Novum means "New Fire," a name reflective of the group’s intention to spark new enthusiasm in Baroque music performed on period instruments. Through an interactive concert experience, we share our passion for the historical performance movement with modern audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Founded in Boston in 2014, Incendium Novum has appeared in the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall: Music@Noon Concert Series in Troy, New York, as part of the Boston Early Music Fringe Festival, toured to Montgomery, AL, and collaborated with Clefworks. From 2015 to 2017 Incendium Novum was named artist in residence at Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church in Cambridge, MA. The ensemble consists of soprano Heidi Freimanis, violinist Yi-Li Chang, gambist Zarina Irkaeva, and harpsichordist Thomas Bowers.
